PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Project Management

Established a number of highly successful, full-service businesses.  More than 35 years of education and experience in the following:

  • Construction Projects: Designed, built and wired thousands of homes and commercial office buildings.  Designed and installed solar, wind, and hydroelectric energy systems.
  • Electrical Contracting: Completed hundreds of diverse projects annually for 35 years - continually managing multiple projects.
  • Catered Events: Catered hundreds of events including the Ann Arbor Jazz and Blues Festival for 30,000 people and many weddings with 250 guests and more.

Research and Development, Operations Analysis

Initiated, organized and operated several successful business ventures, including real estate, general contracting, electrical and catering (in Israel, the Bahamas, and nine U.S. states).  Each business venture required:

  • Initial concept development;
  • Definition of project goals and scope;
  • Project development; and
  • Ongoing operations analysis.

Identified client needs, financing, project design, governmental regulations and permitting, licensing and insurance requirements.
Developed numerous business plans, requiring the ability to easily grasp and apply new ideas and technologies.
 

Logistics, Purchasing, Production, Quality

ControlCompleted many thousands of projects worldwide, Managed all inbound and outbound materials, parts, supplies and finished products.
Fully responsible for all aspects of:  

  • Resource management (staff, contractors, supplies, equipment, fiscal);
  • Inventory control;
  • Production/work scheduling;
  • Coordination of design layouts, including creation of electrical design specifications;
  • Project installation 

Continually refined specifications, interacting daily with clients, vendors/suppliers, building and health inspectors, and city, county and state officials.

Finance, Accounting, Budgeting

Raised capital for business ventures (micro-financing)through a combination of: hard work; maximizing savings; investment; obtaining loans and credit; and attracting excellent clients

  • Established and maintained accounts for purchasing all materials necessary for general contracting, electrical, and catering businesses.
  • Estimated job costs, developed and worked within budgets, and negotiated sales contracts.
  • Managed payroll, insurance, bonding, and billing.
  • Created business plans for others, including cost/revenue estimates, and obtaining financing through good relationships with lenders.

Sales, Marketing, Public Relations

  • Created many business growth and marketing strategies, including setting sales goals and promoting services such as lighting design, energy management, and historical restoration. 
  • Initiated and developed strong client relationships. 
  • Experienced in negotiating purchasing agreements, sales contracts and services.
  • Trained in conflict resolution method of Re-evaluation and Co-counseling.  

Personnel Training and Management

  • Employed hundreds of contractors, craftsmen, apprentices and other support staff.  Hired, trained and managed as many as 38 employees for a single project. 
  • Developed management style focused on mentoring and performance improvement.

International Business

Traveled extensively throughout the world including Central and North America, Europe. Middle East and East Asia.  Familiar and comfortable with a wide variety of cultures.

  • Operated businesses importing and exporting products between the United States, Canada, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Turkey.
  • Designed and implemented electrical projects in Israel. 
  • Managed a catering business in Nassau, Bahamas.
